A Local Farm That’s Grown With South Jersey
If you’ve spent time around Burlington County, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Specca Farms. Located near Bordentown on Jacksonville–Mount Holly Road, the farm has become a popular stop for people looking for fresh produce, seasonal picking, and a more local alternative to grocery stores.
What makes Specca Farms stand out is that it’s an actual working farm. It’s not overly commercialized, and even though it attracts plenty of visitors during strawberry and pumpkin season, the focus is still on growing food.
The Specca family has been farming in the area for decades, with the farm operating since around the 1950s. Over time, it expanded from traditional farming into a pick-your-own destination that now draws families from all over South Jersey.
Today, the farm covers roughly 125 acres and grows a surprisingly wide variety of crops. According to Steve, Specca Farms grows more than 100 different crops throughout the year.
The farm is especially known for strawberries in the spring and pumpkins in the fall, but there’s much more than that. Depending on the season, visitors can find tomatoes, peppers, beans, leafy greens, herbs, flowers, and other vegetables.
Specca Farms still has the classic New Jersey farm feel. During busy weekends, especially in the fall, you’ll see families walking through fields, kids carrying pumpkins, and long lines at the farm stand. It’s become part produce farm, part seasonal tradition. Even with all the growth, the farm still plays an important role in keeping agriculture active in Burlington County, and stays connected to the area it’s been serving for generations. In a state where development keeps replacing open land, farms like Specca help preserve some of New Jersey’s farming history.
