farmers market

What to look for on Saturday, September 5th ~
Live Music with Camille Peruto
As we celebrate Labor Day, and the unofficial end of summer, this weekend becomes all about relaxing and grilling. Cherry Grove Farm is ready with smoked pork chops, ham steaks, sirloin roasts, beef sausages, chuck roasts, loin roasts, shoulder roasts, London broil, ground beef, and beef hot dogs. Havilah is fresh out of the aging caves, ready for the market and still 15% off. This hard cheese is only made in the summer when the cows have the best pastures. Havilah hits a lot of classic notes with the sweetness of caramel and nuts. Its sister cheese, Havilah Reserve, holds a sharper and stronger flavor. In related news, Havilah also gets along well with grilling.

It’s grilled lamb chops time at Little Hooves Romneys, and they’ll set you up with everything you’ll need. They will also have lamb roasts, legs, ground, shanks, steaks, short ribs and sausages, along with farm fresh eggs.

As we bid sad farewell to peaches soon, we welcome Robson’s Farm apples with open arms. Debuting this week at the market will be Gala, Jonamac and Nittany. They’ll have their tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and fairytale eggplants, too. But get those peaches while you still can.

Pinelands Produce will have microgreen samplers, pea shoots, cherry tomatoes, slicing and green. In the pepper department look for sweet, shishito, jalapenos, poblano, serrano and fish peppers. Winter squashes are here, along with Easter egg radishes, fresh cut basil and chive bunches.

If you loved your favorite farmers’ tables last week, 1895 Organic Farm, Durr Farm, Darmo’s Farm, Cranberry Hall Farm and Spinella Farm will be at tomorrow’s market with their same harvest.

Maybe you’re staying home and avoiding the crowds this weekend. Take home some of CJ’s Salsa’s Mango pineapple chutney, Black bean & corn salsa, Spanish bread dip, Chimichurri, Peach salsa, Pico de Gallo, Street corn dip, Guacamole and Buffalo blue hummus. Keep it for yourself ~ You’ll be happy you did ~

Such a unique way to enjoy their delicious raw honey. Just cut a chunk and spread it over toast. It won’t melt, but it will become soft and aromatic. It’s great on biscuits, French toast and pancakes, too. Mill Creek Apiary will have their local raw honeys of Wildflower, Pine Barrens, Buckwheat, Cranberries & Walnut and Hot Habanero infused honeys. Look for their 100% Pure beeswax candles, beeswax skin care and specialty honey products.

Cheese Etc. & Gourmet Gifts has a new flavor alert! Fig & Orange Goat ~ a sweet fig jam with a twist of orange blended with creamy, tangy goat cheese. Perfect for the last blast of summer! Celebrate Labor Day with all those classic faves too ~ Cheddar horseradish, Pub beer, Jersey Devil port wine, Buffalo blue, Lavender honey goat and a market best seller, Fig & Gorgonzola! Oh, and vegan cheese spreads too!

This is the last week for Peach Crisp at Peewee’s Ice Cream. So, stock up before it’s all gone. They are releasing 2 new flavors ~ Key lime pie (vegan & gluten free) and Mouse tracks (chocolate ice cream with peanut butter and choco chip cookie dough)

A huge #10 birthday shout out goes to Vera, of Our Souls Shine. Vera has been on the market scene since she was 2. She is friendly, personable, and wise beyond her years. You may already know her and that spunky little dog, James. If you see her on Saturday, Wish her a Happy Birthday!

MECHA Chocolate – Last chance for the Summer Escape box! Banana rum, Root beer float, Raspberry, Margaritaville, Passion fruit curd, and Mesquite smoked almond praline
