Join us for this informational seminar to learn how to attract pollinators and other beneficial species to your yard while repelling pests in natural ways. Discover the importance of selecting the right types of native plants – perennials, trees, shrubs, and grasses – that bloom throughout all three seasons and are adapted to the conditions we have in South Jersey. To quote Dr. Doug Tallamy in his book Nature’s Best Hope, “In the past, we have asked one thing of our gardens: that they be pretty. Now they have to support life, sequester carbon, feed pollinators and manage water.” This lecture will help you transform your backyard from a sterile landscape into a functioning habitat. A series of relevant handouts will be provided as well as a list of plants ranked according to deer fondness.
Presented by Jen Bulava, Senior Park Naturalist.
